Majik's Kids ("we," "our," or "us") is a children's music platform operated by Magic Unicorn Inc. We take your family's privacy seriously, especially when it comes to children. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights as a parent or guardian.
What We Collect
We only collect information from parent and guardian accounts. When you create an account, we collect:
- Email address — used for account authentication, password resets, and important account notifications.
- Display name — a name you choose to identify yourself within the platform.
- Payment information — processed securely by Stripe. We do not store credit card numbers on our servers.
- Child profile data you provide — display names (which do not need to be real names), age group selections, avatar choices, and listening preference settings. These private profiles are associated with your parent account.
- Personalized-song details you provide — a child's profile nickname, favorite things, occasion, mood, and selected character. The generation worker is not yet active; queued requests remain private in this service until that integration is reviewed and enabled.
- Service and aggregate analytics — track, age-range, listening-duration, completion, and source fields that are not associated with a user or child profile. If self-hosted Umami is enabled, it also processes cookieless page, referrer, browser, device-type, and coarse location metrics without a user or child identifier.
What We Don't Collect
We are committed to minimizing data collection, especially regarding children. We do not ask children to provide:
- Email addresses, login credentials, exact birthdates, or uploaded photos
- Precise location data from any user
- Behavioral tracking data or individual browsing profiles
- Device identifiers for advertising or tracking purposes
- Contact lists, microphone input, or camera data
- Cross-site or cross-app tracking data
Children's Privacy (COPPA)
Majik's Kids is child-directed and uses parent-managed accounts. We are reviewing the service against the current Children's Online Privacy Protection Rule and do not claim legal clearance before that review is complete.
- Only parents create accounts. Children never have their own login credentials, email addresses, or accounts.
- Parents control private child profiles. A display name is chosen by the parent and can be a nickname or character name. Age is stored as a range (e.g., "2-4"), not a birthdate. Parents should not enter a full legal name or sensitive information.
- No child-level behavioral profile. Play records and self-hosted page analytics are not associated with a child profile.
- No social features for children. There are no comments, public profiles, messaging, or social interactions available to child profiles.
- No targeted advertising. We do not use child information for advertising, cross-site tracking, or sale.
Parental Rights
As a parent or guardian, you have full control over your account and your children's profiles:
- View all data — you can view all information associated with your account and child profiles at any time through your account settings.
- Modify profiles — you can change display names, age groups, avatars, and listening preferences at any time.
- Delete profiles — you can delete a child profile and its linked personalized-song requests from the profile management page.
- Delete your account — you can request account deletion by contacting us. Limited billing, security, dispute, or legal records may remain where required, as explained below.
- Withdraw consent — you can withdraw consent for data processing at any time by deleting profiles or your account.
Data Deletion
When you delete a child profile, the profile and its linked personalized-song requests are deleted from the application database. Anonymous aggregate play records cannot be linked back to a profile and therefore are not selected by a profile-deletion request. Backup expiration and verified deletion procedures are being documented before public launch.
Account deletion is currently handled by contacting us. We delete or de-identify data that is not required for security, dispute, tax, accounting, or other legal obligations, and we are building a documented request and backup-expiration process. Subscription cancellation and deletion of billing records are separate actions because payment providers and legal retention duties may require limited records to remain.
Cookies
We use only essential cookies required for the platform to function:
- Authentication cookie — maintains your login session. This is a first-party, secure, HTTP-only cookie.
- CSRF token — protects against cross-site request forgery attacks.
Self-hosted Umami, when enabled, does not set analytics cookies. We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site behavioral tracking.
Third-Party Services
- Stripe — payment processing for subscriptions. Stripe's privacy policy applies to payment data they process.
- Keycloak (self-hosted) — authentication services. Hosted on our own infrastructure, not a third-party cloud service.
- Umami (self-hosted, when enabled) — cookieless service analytics. We do not send a user ID, child-profile ID, email, or custom event properties to the tracker.
We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, targeted advertising, or third-party behavioral profiles. Before a personalized-song generation provider receives child-profile details, we will update this notice, document the provider and retention terms, and implement the required direct notice and consent path.
